Google Partners With Airtel To Increase Google Workspace Customer Base In India

January 2nd, 2020

Google has announced its partnership with Airtel, India’s third-largest telecom operator, to enlarge its cloud consumer base. As per the deal, Airtel can provide Google Workspace services to small and medium-sized businesses in India.

Google Workspace is a Google cloud-based product that facilitates Gmail, Docs, Drive, Calendar, and many more essential apps and tools. It is built with real-time collaboration and machine intelligence to help people work very collaboratively, smarter and safer.

It will be a crucial move for Google to grow as a significant player in the industry. Currently, including Amazon’s AWS and Microsoft Azure, the sector is witnessing a fierce battle.

According to Google, the partnership will be effective from today, meaning Airtel can provide Google Workspace services today. However, the financial agreement between the parties is yet to be revealed. Google Workspace has three plans for its customers: Business Starter, Business Standard, and Enterprise Standard, Business Plus and Enterprise Plus. While considering Microsoft Azure, Google workspace is pretty affordable, and users can grab discounts using this Google Workspace promo code.

Airtel has a potential base in India with 325 million subscribers. It includes 2,500 large businesses and over 500,000 small and medium-sized businesses.

“The combination of Google Workspace’s collaboration and productivity tools with Airtel’s digital business offerings will help accelerate digital innovations for thousands of Indian businesses,” said Thomas Kurian, Chief Executive of Google Cloud.

In recent times, India has been growing as a vast overseas market of cloud business. The country’s cloud market is expected to grow beyond $7 billion by 2022.

AWS is leading the Indian market with a huge customer base, and last week Amazon announced a $1 billion investment in India. At the same time, Microsoft Azure has recently collaborated with another skyrocketing telecom operator Reliance Jio to open cloud data centres across India. Finally, Google’s new move signals an unprecedented competition in the sector.
