WhatsApp is the most used global mobile messenger app in the world, with almost 1.6 billion monthly active users, according to Statista report. For the same reason, WhatsApp Business is gaining more acceptability among small businesses in many countries, if not worldwide.
WhatsApp has updated its business app with the feature for adding the catalog. The new feature is to help small businesses make better communication with the customers by showcasing the products and their details. Adding this, customers do not need to go to the website to check the details of the products.
The combination of catalog and chat would bring a huge impact. Earlier, WhatsApp Business provided the option to send important information to all customers and quickly respond to their concerns. Several startups from developing countries have been benefitting from the app to enhance the communication with the customers. India, Indonesia, and Brazil are at the forefront.
The catalog update helps to showcase each product profile including, image, name, description, price, link, and product code. Customers can easily find the products and know more about it through chat.
WhatsApp has tested the catalog feature with Agradaya, a sustainable herbs and spices business in Indonesia. According to the founder of Agradaya Andhika Mahardika, it helped customers learn about products easily, and it’s most essential.
The feature is currently available in Brazil, Germany, India, Indonesia, Mexico, the U.K., and the U.S. Later, it will roll out to other countries understanding the impact of the feature. Those who are yet to try WhatsApp can download the app with the catalog feature for free from the Google Play Store and the App Store. The existing users have to update the app to get the feature.
While WhatsApp Business is bringing pretty innovative ideas, the Facebook-owned messenger can be a plausible marketing platform for all online businesses, in the nearest future.
