Twitter launched its night mode in 2016 on web and iOS, but Android users didn’t get the opportunity. One of the leading social media platforms has been buckling down to bring the dark mode on Android in the last few months.
Finally, the feature called “Lights Out” is available for Android alpha channel users.
An updated version 8.19.0 recently launched to alpha testers of Twitter for Android, bringing a new display setting. With the update, now a third element is present under the Display head. You will have two options to choose: ‘Dim’ and ‘Lights Out’.
Dim already exists on the platform for a long time, while the Lights Out is the new addition to the dark mode. The dim mode turns the display into a shade dark blue.
At the same time, Lights Out is different from dim as it brings a true dark black background. It’s quite helpful for power saving on phones with OLED displays. According to Android Police, the dark theme in the newest 8.19.0 alpha build.
According to Beebom, the latest dark mode on Android is not accessible to all testers who are in the alpha channel.
Even though dark mode launched two years back, Light Out came into existence in 2019. It appeared on iOS six months before.
It’s expected to reach all Android users by the next update since it is now testing with beta/alpha users. If things turn around without any hassle, the much-awaited feature will come before the end of 2019.
In July, Twitter had tweeted the launch of “Light Out Mode” in September but it was delayed and lately arrived now.
Latest Whatsapp beta also hinted at dark mode on Android. According to WABetaInfo, the version number to 2.19.298. With this update, two new features will appear on Whatsapp: ‘Dark Date’ and ‘Event Bubbles’ instead of the green and yellow UI.
