TinMen, the well-known food delivery startup backed by Zomato, has officially declared the shutting down of its services. Mukesh Manda, TinMen Co-founder, said the funds needed for the expansion of business were insufficient, this leads them to the break off the service. They also added that the users would get the refund of their TinMen wallet amount till 3rd December.
Founded in 2015, TinMen was the one-stop solution of homemade food delivery services for working professionals of Hyderabad. Offering delicious Indian cuisines, TinMen was founded by Mukesh Manda, the former software development engineer at Amazon and Chaitanya Degala, Deloitte, former consultant.
TinMen had a mobile application app with the feature of scheduling the desired menu as well as pre-booking of the meal one day prior to the lunch. With a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisines such as Continental, Andhra, Telangana, Bengali, etc.
TinMen was offering 400 delicacies to its customers for the selection of meals they want. As per their statement, they have delivered 2000 meals a day; the meal started at INR 65 with the convenience of a monthly or weekly pass at mere INR 299 a month.
TinMen had raised funds from food tech unicorn Zomato in 2017. With this investment, TinMen not only increased the capital but also gained popularity and expansion of its business. Before these funds, the Lead Angel Network has also funded in an angel round of TinMen in 2016, though the amount was undisclosed.
One of the founders took to the official website to announce, “From Dec 1st, 2019 we are shutting our homemade lunch services to the customers. The constant thing was the faith and love of our loyal customers we got the last 4 years.” He also added that they thank the investors who believed in them. All the users of TinMen will be given back the balance amount of their wallet till 3rd Dec 2019 by TinMen generated refund link provided on registered sms/email/WhatsApp.
