Samsung Electronics Unveils “Age of Experience” Vision at CES 2020

The most anticipated CES 2020 conference has commenced on January 7th, and the first sessions themselves are bringing groundbreaking news. Exciting updates are coming from Samsung Electronics as President and CEO H.S. Kim has announced the “Age of Experience” at the opening keynote at CES.

As per the keynote address, this decade will witness unprecedented innovations from the South Korean giant. Moving out of the usual items such as smartphones and home appliances, the company, in the new decade, is on a mission to bring artificial intelligence aggressively, and broaden its business spectrum. 

The “Age of Experience” plans are to improve the personal and social life with the implementation of advanced intelligent robotics, AI, 5G, and edge computing. The core element of this vision is personal care. Samsung has a unique vision and philosophy to innovate human-centered products, and they are to solve people’s problems and elevate their life, Kim stated.

During the session, Kim revealed Samsung’s vision of robots as ‘life companions and introduced its first robot named Ballie. This upcoming rolling robot is capable of understanding support, reacting, and helping human beings. The On-Device AI capabilities integrated with Ballie will stand as a fitness assistant as well as a mobile interface. 

Samsung considers AI as the right technology to bring personalized experiences. On-device AI ensures control of your information and secures your privacy, yet offering the potential of personalization, says Sebastian Seung, Executive VP, and Chief Research Scientist at Samsung.

CES 2020 also witnessed other upcoming products and plans from Samsung. Moving further, the company is going to introduce ‘Intelligent Home’ to bring immersive experiences using AI, sensors, and data analysis. The systems will blur the boundary between the physical and digital worlds. 

The session also emphasized the importance of data and declared that the inventions would be entirely focusing on three elements: security and privacy, technology for good, and citizenship.
