Seoul’s Prototype Software Startup ProtoPie Lifts $6.3M To Expand Westward

South Korea-based award-winning prototype software startup, ProtoPie, has bagged $6.3 million in its Series A round led by its new investor, HB Investment Inc., a Seoul-based investment firm. With this investment, the startup is planning to establish its headquarters in North America by exploring partnerships and accelerating customer acquisition. Moreover, ProtoPie is also planning to increase the headcounts of its design and sales teams.

ProtoPie’s existing investors Vela Partners, Intops Investment, DevSisters Investment, Wonik Investment, Shinhan Investment, and BSK Investment, also participated in this round. The latest funding brings the total capital of the startup to nearly $10 million to date. 

In late 2014, John Song, Scotty Kim, and Tony Kim founded ProtoPie as an easily accessible tool for transforming UI/UX design ideas into highly interactive prototypes for desktop, mobile, and web convertible to IoT. With the help of ProtoPie’s tool, software designers can inspect, validate, and examine the designs and ideas without the need for any code.

ProtoPie has swiftly expanded its collaborative software as a staple platform for exploring new horizons and learning new innovative designs to experience IoT, manufacturing processes and customer tech. Microsoft, Google, BMW, GoPro, HBO, Samsung, ASOS, Verizon, Nintendo, and many more firms worldwide are using ProtoPie’s platform for effectively exploring new ideas.   

In an internal email, ProtoPie’s co-founder Tony Kim said, the recent investment is the strongest proof of the quality of ProtoPie’s product and the strength of their team. Globally, the demand for ProtoPie is increasing rapidly. The fresh capital will fuel ProtoPie for expanding its services in the market of North America. On the other hand, the investment will also help it in preparing for the IoT boom. Along with the funding, the venture capital investors are also providing valuable support and strategic guidance to ProtoPie. Tony is extremely happy and proud of everything ProtoPie has achieved to date and even very excited for the future the ProtoPie team is building together.
