Google Buys Cronologics for Smartwatch Technology To Make Android Wear Better

cronologicsCoronologics announced that it has been acquired by Google. Cronologics is a smartwatch and wearable tech developer company.  The Silicon Based company was established in the year of 2014 and recently launched a Android- powered watch known as CoWatch that works with Amazon’s Alexa.

“We started Cronologics in 2014 as a platform for smart, diverse smartwatches. Today, we’re excited to announce the next phase of our journey — we are joining Google to help grow the portfolio of watches powered by Android Wear. We see strong alignment with Android Wear’s mission and look forward to working with our new colleagues at Google to continue pushing the frontier of wearable technology and smartwatches with Android Wear 2.0 and beyond”, Cronologics said in a statement.

“We’ve been so proud and privileged to build Cronologics and we’d like to thank everyone who has taken part in our journey. We’ve loved working with you, and we look forward to new opportunities to serve you and partner with you in our new life at Google”, added Cronologics.

Prior to the acquisition some of Cronologics technologies have been integrated into the Smartwatch CoWatch. VentrureBeat reported that Cronologics was able to place its Alexa-equipped operating system into the product so that users could control the watch using their voice. Google could use Cronologics to enhance the Android Wear so the voice control could even work with third-party apps.

With the decrease in demand for wearables was the main reasons why Moto 360 is not releasing a new product. Pebble could not make enough revenue so they had to sell their assets and shut the company down. Cronologics on the other hand played safe, it looks like Google could use Cronologics and push the sales of CoWatch.
