Goldbelly Raises An Amount Of $20M In Series B Funding

Goldbelly, which is a NYC-based online food marketplace which connects the most iconic regional and local food providers to consumers around the country, today in a report has announced that they have raised $20m in the funding round of Series B.

The round was led by Enlightened Hospitality Investments (EHI), with participation from some of the existing investors Intel Capital, 500 Startups and 645 Ventures.

The company has a plans to use the funds to expand its technology and operations teams in its newly opened New York City headquarters. As a part of the transaction, Danny Meyer, founder and CEO of Union Square Hospitality Group and a partner in Enlighted Hospitality Investments, will soon join Goldbelly’s advisory board.

“We are thrilled to partner with Danny and the team at EHI and to join their great portfolio of brands, [which] are unified by shared values of hospitality and a commitment to providing a stronger emotional connection to food,” said Joe Ariel, Goldbelly CEO and founder, in a statement.

“At Goldbelly, we believe that the country’s greatest foods are made by passionate regional food makers and artisans,” Ariel added. “We’ve created a platform to empower these iconic local brands to connect with food lovers across the country and look forward to enabling more people to enjoy these magical food experiences.”

Meyer, who founded the now publicly traded New York-based Shake Shack Inc. as well as the privately held Union Square Hospitality Group, said Enlighted Hospitality invests in “proven category disruptors and leaders, particularly when they merge technology with hospitality in a way that provides a unique and exceptional guest experience.” He serves as CEO of EHI.

The company which is founded and led by founder & CEO Joe Ariel, Goldbelly’s team of “food explorers” finds America’s most authentic food experiences and makes them available for around the national delivery, straight from the source. Their proprietary technology manages e-commerce operations and logistics for 350 of the country’s most popular food makers.
