Flickr has planned to allow free accounts with a 1,000 photo limit
Flickr has been the incredible service provider of image hosting and video hosting since its establishment. Used in an online community, this service is used by millions of users all across the globe. Recently, Flickr has made an increase in the price for pro subscribers that make the current annual rate of $60. For acquiring more users, Flickr announced it would be allowing free accounts to the users to host as well as upload more pictures with a limit of 1,000 photos. For this, the photos will be licensed freely under a certain set of rules and licensing. Flickr also cleared that if the photo limits exceed the 1000 photos, then they would be deleted from free accounts of the users.
Along with this announcement that Flickr made, they also disabled the bulk license change tools of the users. This change was made so that users cannot make any change in the licensing of their photos. As per Flickr, they want its users to understand the importance and implications of various free licenses and Flickr offers.
According to Flickr, the estimated annual revenue is approximately $46.4M per year. Also, the estimated revenue per employee of Flickr is $145,000. Flickr announced that the publicly licensed photos that are uploaded before November 1, 2018, would be exempted from any kind of deletion.
Flickr has changed its ownership several times since its establishment. On April 20, 2018, this photo and video sharing platform was owned by SmugMug. Today, Flickr will be a billion-dollar business that is used by millions of users. After its merger with SmugMug, a new login has been created with different timers and conditions. Moreover, the popularity of the Flickr website and app has tremendously increased in the past few years.
