Facebook To Introduce ‘Favorite’ Friend List Story Feature

by StartupWorld Staff

Facebook is testing a new feature for users called ‘Favorite’ on Facebook and Messenger story. This feature is similar to what Instagram and Snapchat already flaunt. This ‘Favorite’ friend list will help you keep the privacy at your priorities by adding only friends whom you want to show your activities. With additional latest unique story features, it is expected to update in 2020. Jane Manchun Wong, hidden features and security expert has brought this testing to light.

Facebook team has continuously been testing various features to add to facebook. Lately, Matt Navarra, a social media expert, shared the news of shutting ‘live with’ function of Facebook. Facebook live-stream with friends feature was introduced in 2017. Initially, there was a craze among the FB users for this feature but in the course of time, the users moved back to messaging, and stories took over the live streaming.

Besides, the team has also introduced a ‘Top Fans’ feature in June this year, where users can upload timeline posts for their leading fans. To achieve the Top Fan status as bestowed by Facebook, among the user’s friend list, “they are one of the most active people on your Page.”  The ‘Favorite’ friend list for stories feature is for the friends on the user’s timeline to whom they want to share the story updates. This is to keep the privacy of the users’ activities only to the limited audience from their friend list for the liberty of sharing with ease.

‘Favorite’ friend list option of facebook is similar to the story feature of Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube. Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube launched the Close Freinds feature for stories in respectively 2016, in 2014, and 2018. Instagram and Snapchat stories are visible to the friend for 24 hours, whereas YouTube stories can be uploaded only by the channel, which already has 10,000 subscribers with seven days of visibility. The team has not yet disclosed the official launch of Facebook ‘Favorite’ feature, not even the operation (re-sharing of stories on the timeline) of this new feature.
