February 3rd, 2020

After having a stressful week in the office, the only thing you start thinking about is what you are going to do this weekend? You start planning to hang out with your food-loving friends and begin to search places where delicious food is served to enjoy the weekend and to boost yourself for the coming week. Besides, if you are staying away from your home, then you crave for home-cooked meals and look for places where you can make friends and have nice long talks on your food table, just like Conosh offers.

Yes! You heard right. Bangalore-based Conosh is a platform where a lot of people come together to interact with more people and make new friends over food. Conosh was founded by Anshumala,  Neha Malik, and Vaibhav Behl in 2018.

Anshu and Vaibhav were into the same profession and worked together with huge brands like Bulgari, Louis Vuitton, and Christian Dior. More than a decade, they were friends. Besides, their interest in traveling and food took them to many countries while traveling; they came across a community dining concept where native families host their local dishes to travelers to make them explore their local culture.

However, exploring various countries, Turkey was their favorite. “Turkey denoted food and food denotes friends” that what they have done in Turkey. A transition of traditional barriers to the meeting, interacting, connecting stories, and making new friends, which will go on for a long time.

Conosh A Companion Of Good Food, Good Company And Good Times

With this thought, the duo realized people are ready to pay for the home-cooked and new cuisine with a cultural ambiance. The trip to Turkey was a starting point of an idea to build Conosh. In 2017, they decided to add a foodie partner to their team, and Neha was their choice. Vaibhav had worked with Neha at Louis Vuitton showroom in Delhi when they came across each other, and later both of them got to know that they have similar tastes in food and travel. Vaibhav has sharted telling about his journey to Istanbul and shared his experiences, and the other side Neha has mentioned her culinary adventures across the world.

Later in 2018, the trio came together and decided to create a platform where a community dining experiences and outdoor events will let you connect with people who have a similar taste or opinion on food in the city.

A platform where people can interact with each other while sharing meals, so they came up with the name Conosh and eventually, they came up with the idea of creating a website called Conosh.

Conosh has an Eat-In option, which gives you home-cooked meals with great company and home chef who will host you and other food lovers over great food. Conosh has an Eat-out option, where you can Eat-out at restaurants or food pop-ups and meet food buddies with similar tastes. However, Conosh is for good food, good company, and good times where you can also exchange food with neighbors, friends, and create unforgettable memories just by sharing a meal.

Currently, Conosh is available in three different cities in India, such as Bangalore, Delhi, and Mumbai. It has a team of 10 members and has done 60 pop-ups in Bangalore, 2 pop-ups in Mumbai, and 13 pop-ups in Delhi.

Anshumala, Neha, and Vaibhav have done 6 months of research in finding home chefs who would host guests and give them a treat by serving the best meal.

The regional cuisines include Andhra brahmin, Kodagu, Awadhi, Mangalorean veg/non-veg, along with Dutch and American cuisines. The chefs will be serving unique cuisines, which is for every Indian region, and the menu can be set up by the host, and Conosh will make sure that they are taking care of the guests. Whereas, the cuisines are entirely dependent on home chefs, and it goes according to events such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and International day.

Conosh works on B2B and B2C models, where the hosts decide the pricing. Almost 80% money goes to the chef. Even it has two B2B partnerships, one is Conosh-Brand Partnerships, and the second is Conosh-Corporate Collaboration.

Conosh aims to build a community of like-minded people and re-build the culture experience-based by connecting with people who have a similar taste or opinion on food in the city. In 2020, the startup is planning to organize a new program named ‘Traveling Home Chefs,’ where home chefs will be traveling across various places to host their food pop-ups in India.
