Chilibeli, Indonesia-based social commerce startup, has landed $10 million in a Series A funding led by Lightspeed Venture Partners. Besides, Golden Gate Ventures, Alto Partners, Kinesys Group, and Sequoia’s Surge accelerator program also participated in the funding round.
With the latest funding, Chilibeli is going to improve its communities in different cities such as Selatan, Jakarta, Depok, and Tangerang. It will also expand its product reach to other cities like Bekasi and Bogor. Moreover, some part of the capital will be used to improve Chilibeli’s user interface, and for the warehouse in the Depok.
In 2019, Alex Feng, Damon Yue, and Matt Li founded Chilibeli. It is an e-commerce platform connecting suppliers, consumers and farmers together by using the company's network of agents to bring high-quality, fresh products to each and every household. Many of the agents are housewives, and they are earning a pretty amount by using the startup services.
The startup always empowers housewives to be small entrepreneurs. The agent named Mitra Chilibeli, are the ones, who have been creating their own community by using the firm's application, and with that, even their friends can purchase several products. Initially, a company provides and delivers products to all agents, and then they are delivering all the products by last-mile delivery.
As per the Chilibeli report, 20% of Indonesia’s household expenditure goes into groceries. The housewives, who are quite busy in the following family tradition, it is an opportunity for them to earn a good amount of money for their living.
Partner at Golden Gate Ventures, Justin Hall said that the Chilibeli team is coming up with something new that no other company has ever done successfully before, such as the trusted social circle.
Currently, the startup is gaining 150% growth every month. It has created more than 300 direct jobs and 1K indirect jobs for their agents named “Mitra Chilibeli”.
