DLive Ties-Up with BitTorrent To Up Decentralized Live Streaming

BitTorrent joins hands with the blockchain-based live-streaming startup DLive to overcome the uprising censorship issues. This collaboration will make live streaming of crypto-related videos 100% transparent.

Currently, BitTorrent has over 100M monthly active users, and DLive is aiming at bringing peer-to-peer content sharing opportunities to all the users without any censorship. This step is expected to make a decentralized content platform mainstream.

“It’s unfortunate to see content platforms such as YouTube taking down crypto-related content; this is the issue with centralized agencies. Decentralized content platforms such as TRON’s newest partner DLive are the platforms of the future,” BitTorrent CEO Justin Sun told Cointelegraph in a conversation.

DLive Ties-Up with BitTorrent To Up Decentralized Live Streaming

Last week, YouTube had removed some of the contents uploaded by cryptocurrency-based content creators. Besides, there was a ban on Ethereum and Coinbase DApps from Google Play and the App Store.

All these incidents hint toward the increasing censorship on decentralized platforms. Consequently, cryptocurrency experts and content creators have come up with harsh criticism. The plan for a new live streaming platform is expected to be motivated by the current scenario.

Within two years of launching, DLive has made over 5 million monthly active users as well as the innovative live streaming community. Above that, top YouTubers such as PewDiePie, Ninja, James Charles, and a few more have started live streaming on DLive recently.

Earlier this year, BitTorrent launched its live streaming platform named BLive. With this partnership, BLive will migrate into DLive, which will become the major streaming platform. This integration will make a larger community on the platform. By advertising DLive products and services on the BitTorrent network, will also increase the awareness for decentralized content sharing.

Built on the Lino blockchain, DLive will have to migrate to the TRON blockchain as part of this tie-up. BitTorrent grew as the world’s largest decentralized protocol for file sharing after it was purchased by TRON in July 2018. At the same time, DLive will continue to support the Lino blockchain.
