Digi-Billboard AdOnMo Is Revolutionized The Advertising Industry
Its T20 season and for any cricket lover, it is a pain to miss the scores. Although even if you have to go to the office, you keep on checking on scores frequently and plan to leave the office early. However, all your planning ends in smoke as you stuck in traffic, and now you can’t even check the scores. What if you are stuck in a traffic jam but you are getting the updated scores of the match without taking your mobile out? Yes, AdOnMo, a digital mobile billboard that reflects a score with its digital billboard installed on top of the cab.
Indian Institutes of Technology, Indore, alumni Sandeep Bommireddi who is Computer Science B.Tech and the Post Graduate from Indian School of Business, Sravanth Gajula, the former employees of Microsoft as Software Engineer and Program Manager co-founded AdOnMo in July 2016. With hardcore engineers of IIT, Krishna Chaitanya Bommakanti as HR and Aditya Patwardhan as Tech lead, and Aurora's Business School's pass out Garlapati Suraj as the Sales lead, the duo conceptualized the dream of India's first contextually aimed digital Out-of-Home (OOH) advertising platform.
AdOnMo is short for Advertising on Motion or Mobile. As the team of IIT is always known for innovative and out-of-the-box thinking, as the thrust for the technology made them come up with a useful yet affordable idea of digital billboards which can be used for advertisement, social awareness, cricket scores, etc. The background of IIT and claiming the relevant technology patents helped them a lot to get the trust and speedy widening of their technology in India and overseas.
AdOnMo's cutting-edge intelligence technology has bridged the gap between online and offline advertising worlds, which further took the Outdoor Ad industry to the next level. Its services are affordable, which initiates micro and medium scale businesses to come to its platform and advertise.
Starting any business is not easy, it has lots of ups and downs and challenges at every step. Sravanth and Sandeep took 6 months to stabilized the firm, paralleling working on the prototype. In April 2017, the founders took their product on-field test, which made them improvise the design. After re-designing, they launched Digi-billboards with 40 cabs in Hyderabad. By the end of 2017, they touched 100 cabs.
As per a statement from the co-founder, Sravanth mentions that even if we keep on progressing, there is a long way to go. The team has combined computer vision by developing sensors with the help of AI, ML, image processing, and cloud-based technology into their services to dig-out and understand consumer behavior. Whereas, their long-term aims are to become the "InMobi of offline advertising."
AdOnMo is working according to the standards set by the government in terms of the number of ads, brightness, and the intensity of flashy light. It wishes to build the Google Ads of OOH advertising, product development, increasing headcount, and expand across India and other countries like Thailand.
In 2019, AdOnMo had raised an undisclosed amount from Astarc Ventures, and recently it has raised $3 million in its pre-Series A funding from VC firm, BAce Capital. Currently, it is operational in Mumbai, Hyderabad, New Delhi, and Bengaluru, with hundreds of cabs running with its mounted ads. It is working with 120 brands, including Reliance Digital, Amazon, Honda, EXIDE, IKEA, and HDFC Bank. AdOnMo won the title of GES 2017 in Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017, which was held in Hyderabad.
