Accenture Acquires The US’s Cybersecurity Startup Revolutionary Security
Accenture has acquired Philadelphia-based cybersecurity startup Revolutionary Security at an undisclosed amount. The startup will help Accenture’s critical infrastructure and operational technology (OT) to increase three-fold in the security business in three years and support organizations to reduce cyber risks.
In 2016, Brent Hambly, Jeffrey Mucha, Rich Mahler, and Rick Cline founded Revolutionary Security with the mission of providing customers with expertise and knowledge to protect their enterprises against advanced cyber attacks by LiveFire. Its LiveFire utilizes real-time cyber risk for identifying where the security monitoring and processes are lacking. Moreover, it also monitors staff operations and technologies by using breach and attack clone testing services. The startup serves a variety of enterprises dealing in communications, manufacturing, healthcare, financial services, and energy.
According to Accenture’s cybersecurity business officer Jim Guinn II, the startup is an expert in protecting communications, and this will benefit Accenture’s utilities, oil and gas, minerals and mining life science customers around the world to complement Accenture’s security capabilities.
On this occasion, Revolutionary Security CEO Rich Mahler said, the acquisition by Accenture would enable us to deliver more enhanced cybersecurity solutions to our customers and widen our customer base worldwide. Our team is excited to be a part of the leading provider in cybersecurity services, Accenture Security. Also, we look forward to work with the giant to help customers to solve their toughest challenges in OT and IT security.
Revolutionary Security is not the first acquisition of the cybersecurity service that Accenture has acquired. It has purchased a handful of security-focused firms like France’s Arismore, Isreal-based Maglan, Australia-based Redcore, and the US-based iDefense, FusionX, and Deja vu Security. In 2019, the giant said that it would spend nearly $1.2 billion on 33 acquisitions.
Most recently, Accenture has bought the Symantec security portfolio from Broadcom Inc. This portfolio includes global threat analysis and monitoring, which is conducted through threat intelligence, incident response services, and a network of security operation centers.
